The days can seem long when you’re in an office, working with machinery, or sitting on your couch. If you find yourself just watching the time pass and waiting for the next opportunity, try implementing these tips to help get going with your day:

1. Stretch.

Simply stretching for five minutes right when you wake up resets your body from the night before and alerts it that it’s time to get moving.

2. Eat breakfast.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so making sure you set aside the time to eat well before doing anything is critical in giving your body the energy it needs.

3. Make a to-do list for that day.

Writing things down makes your goals visual and can bring you that much closer to completing them. When you write down your goals, you get to check or cross them all off at the end – a rewarding process!

4. Make a not-to-do list.

Suggested by Forbes Magazine, writing or typing the things that distract you from your work or daily to-dos keeps your mind in check when it starts to go astray.

5. Do one thing at a time.

Not all of us are great multitaskers. As a matter of fact, none of us were meant to multitask. Tackling projects, chores, or errands one by one is ideal and can help give you peace-of-mind.

6. Take a walk.

This can be for five minutes around your workspace or for 25 minutes around the block. Taking the time to refresh your mind and get some steps in goes a long way.

7. Get some sleep.

Social media and email can be just as distracting at home, but you need to force yourself to turn off your devices and go to bed. Turning off all of your lights and eliminating noise helps you get to sleep faster.

Even if you don’t implement all of these at once, remember we are not meant to multitask. Taking each day as it comes and using one of these tips will help you in the long run. Here’s to more productive days ahead!
