Everything You’ve Ever Wanted to Know About tilr Ambassadors

Inside the colorful personalities behind the phone.

By: Jenny McGregor

At tilr HQ, we don’t outsource the onboarding process. Instead, we have two amazing Ambassadors on the phone every day helping Community Members complete their skills profiles and answering their questions. Last week, we interviewed Zack M. and Jonathan H. to find out their thoughts on being an Ambassador and life outside the office. Read on and get a personal look at the voices of tilr.

Tell me about yourself.

Jonathan H.: In a nutshell, I’m a very open-mindedd individual. I LOVE to learn about different cultures, religions, people, places and histories. And because of this, I’ve NEVER met a stranger – I’m always talking about “this” or “that”.

Zack M.: I’m 26 years old. I’m a student in Software Engineering at Cincinnati State. I enjoy music, making music, and woodworking.

How long have you been working at tilr?

JH: One year as of 11/14/2017.

ZM: One month.

What did you do before joining the tilr team?

JH: I was a Customer Service Engagement Coach/Supervisor.

ZM: Bartender at Bakersfield OTR.

What’s your best/funniest memory from working at tilr so far?

JH: To be honest, there are too many to list or narrow down to just one. I mean, we’re talking about memories from our Holiday Party to our Open House to just having someone say or do something funny where you begin to laugh non-stop until you’re blue in the face. But I can say, I LOVE them all!

ZM: When Liam [Customer Success Manager] somehow got a plush cow to get stuck on the ceiling fan.

What has surprised you about working at tilr?

JH: The fact that no matter how long one has been with tilr or what position one may have with tilr, we all work and respect each other as equals – equal time with tilr, equal positions, equal responsibilities – from CEO to being an intern – we’re all in this together.

ZM: How relaxed and casual the work environment is, and how we all work together as a team.

Briefly describe what your day as a tilr Ambassador is like.

JH:  As an Ambassador, I reach out to our members and conduct their onboarding call – asking follow-up questions, informing them about the tilr app in further details and answering any questions and/or concerns they may still have. Not to mention, between these scheduled onboarding calls, I’m sitting in on meetings, briefings, doing one – on – ones, throwing around ideas with other departments and pushing opportunity notifications.

ZM: Onboarding new Members with tilr and placing tilr Members in jobs.

What’s your favorite part about being a tilr Ambassador?

JH: OMG – I absolutely LOVE being an Ambassador! I think my favorite part of being a tilr Ambassador is, I am the “voice” of tilr – I get to talk and assist with our members, right off the bat; and I have to say, there are no two members who are alike and I LOVE THAT!

ZM: Placing people who need jobs in jobs they want.

What else are you doing when you’re not at work?

JH: Well, since I quit smoking on 06/15/2017, I got back into the gym. For the most part, I usually hit the gym about 5a, three days a week and do a full body workout for about 45 minutes. So, it is safe to say, if I’m not at work, I’m at the gym. If I’m not at the gym, I’m at work. And, if I’m not at either place, I’m in bed – LOL. I mean, getting up at 4:30a will get to you, eventually.

ZM: Hanging out with my girlfriend Kelsey, either at the gym or out on the town.

What’s a surprising fact about yourself?

JH: I was born on Friday, the 13th.

ZM: I was a Military Police Corrections Specialist in the United States Army for 4 years.

What is the most useless talent you have?

JH: I retain useless information. I mean, useless information – like, the reason we say “God Bless You” after someone sneezes is, at one time, it was believed that when one sneezed, the were getting rid of evil spirits that were in their body, and if someone didn’t say, “God Bless You”, the stated evil spirits would re-enter the individual’s body.

ZM: I can flip my eyelids up, LOL.

Anything else you’d like to add?

JH: My rule of thumb for life, “To Thine Own Self be True”.

ZM: In the Army I got to travel to almost every continent except Australia.

If you haven’t done so already, scheduling a chat with Jonathan or Zack is easy! Just go to the tilr app and choose to schedule your onboarding call for a time that’s convenient for you. The call usually lasts less than 10 minutes and you’ll be able to receive job opportunities soon after!
